Thursday's updates

Jaci Burton's Muse
Jaci aims to keep the fashion police distracted.

The Passionate Pen
The next round of drinks is on Jenna. :)

He Wrote, She Wrote
Bob talks about conference etiquette and his approach to picking workshops.

Romancing the Blog
Bob (same guy, different blog) talks about one of the perennial questions asked at every agent/editor/publisher workshop: What's hot? Personally I'd love to see certain questions reduced to a handout before the sessions. The questions that are always asked can just be emailed to the panelists ahead of time, and thereby free the time for more interesting follow-on conversations.

Paperback Writer
Lynn makes her traditional chicken/fart conference jokes and then announces virtual writing workshop plans for next week for those not going to RWA. Here are some of the topics she has tentatively planned:
  • Cross-genre writing
  • Extending your writing range
  • Trend tracking versus jumping
  • Writing to concept

Be sure to check in with her next week. (She'll also continue her amazing and generous tradition of book giveaways.)

The Writing Playground
Kira writes about the little surprises that happen during National. And announces more contests/giveaways. Marilyn reminds everyone about the value of an extra suitcase. Via the comments, Jen says there is a post office across the street from the hotel.

Indulge Yourself
Three towers, no bra, one agent.

Mel-O-Drama
Mel's post makes me think that there is a conference version of the great Panster vs. Plotter divide.

No rules. Just write.
Ever listened to a podcast? Brenda posts an example so you'll be a pro podcast listener by next week. :)

Wet Noodle Posse
Diane talks about what is even more important than being nominated for a RITA. :)

The Muse & Monica Burns
Monica talks about the way editor/agent appointments are being handled this year, some mix-ups, and the challenges of large event planning.

Ember Case
Ember continues her streak of great tips for the conference.

Janice Lynn
This year's prep isn't like the others.

Grosvenor Square
Melissa found a third roomie for the conference and has a great dress to wear.

Crystal Jordan
Crystal's haircut for next week didn't quite go the way she had planned.

Randy's Random Rants, Raves, and Ramblings
Another author talks about having a spreadsheet for National. Goodness. I better figure out Excel.

Alison Kent
Alison echoes my own thoughts about why we never hear about authors going on shopping sprees for other conferences. :)

Sandy's Chatterblog
Forgot to have business cards made up? Try Sandy's Plan B. Happily Sandy has found comfortable shoes for the plane and tied up a few more items as well.

Ecclesiastes 12:12
Thirteen things Nancy needs to do before Atlanta.

Serendipity Links
Kevin Smith talks about working on a Superman movie. Hilarious and mind-boggling.
The Internet is not a big truck. Love John Hodgman.

Seems there's a post office across from the hotel for those folks who need to mail stuff back home.
