Explorer connection issues: RESOLVED
RESOLUTION: Thanks to Laura, I was able to implement a very simple solution to the Explorer error troubling some people this morning. By removing the Site Meter code from the template, the issue has been resolved. Three cheers for Laura!
UPDATE: Explorer/Site Meter programmers appear to have resolved the issue at large, so sites with Site Meter code should now be viewable.

Yay, fast work! I'm glad that did the trick. (I'm not in SF, and I needed my fix!)
Now, someone please tell SmartBitches to remove their sitemeter...

Thank you so much for solving the issue. It seems to be something intermittent though, no? I wonder what triggers it.

Jude,
I think it's pretty consistent, but some of the blogs (like yours) only had the sitemeter on the home page, not the individual post pages, so you could still get to the individual posts, even if you couldn't load the main page.
It started last night around 10pm EST or so. I saw a funny post on one tech blog about "how would you like to the programmer who implemented that one last fix before you left for the weekend that caused so many websites to crash?" Ouch!
Thanks for gathering all the National blogs up-- I know it must be a ton of work, but it's great for those of us who couldn't make it there this year!
That is a funny comment. I am sure someone is getting a call at home though, eh? :)
Which tech blog did you read this on? I was searching for the solution to this error this morning, and only found pages and pages of unhelpful "solutions."
I feel sorry for the guilty party. I'm guessing he's not having a good weekend!
I think I went into the blogger support area (because I noticed the issue seemed to affect a lot of blogger blogs) and searched on "internet explorer aborted" or some such.
When I saw a bunch of posts saying that removing the sitemeter worked, I googled "sitemeter" and "internet explorer aborted" and got a ton of hits. People are somekinda ticked. (And you can't blame 'em, if they run a for-profit site and have a paid subscription to sitemeter.)
The sitemeter site itself is still down (as of 12:30pm EST). Wonder how much that's costing them?! *wince*
I haven't noticed the sitemeter site being down. It is updating again after I added the code back in.
All in all, the fix was pretty fast considering it happened late on Friday night. A daytime outage of 13 hours would have really goaded those who live for a fresh source of outrage.
